Will Rapture Happen on September 23 & 24, 2025?

In our previous post, we looked at What Rapture is, today we want to answer the million dollar question. “Will the Rapture happen on September 23rd and 24th, 2025?” Social media feeds are flooded with videos, prophetic declarations, and countdown timers. Everyone is having rapture dreams and speaking out. Some taking it to the extreme, selling their belongings and quitting jobs. The one that amazed me the most was a Pastor in South Africa who bought a new suit and shoes in preparation for Rapture. But before we get swept away by the excitement or anxiety, we must examine what Scripture actually says about such claims.

God Is Not a Man That He Should Lie

The foundation of our faith rests on the unchanging character of God. Numbers 23:19 declares:

"God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he not do what he says? Does he not fulfill what he promises?"

When God speaks, His word stands forever. And what has God said about the timing of Christ’s return? The answer is crystal clear and unwavering: no one knows the day or hour. This isn’t a suggestion or a riddle to be solved – it’s a divine declaration that has stood for over two thousand years.

Jesus Himself, speaking with absolute authority, stated in Matthew 24:36:

"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Mark 13:32 reinforces this same truth. If our Lord, during His earthly ministry, acknowledged that this knowledge belonged exclusively to the Father, how can any human claim to possess what even Jesus said He did not know?

The Pattern of Failed Predictions

History is full of failed prophecies and date-setting attempts. Each generation has had its self-proclaimed prophets declaring the imminent return of Christ, and each has been proven wrong.

Harold Camping 2011 Predictions

Harold Camping gained international attention by predicting the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011. When that failed, he adjusted the date to October 21, 2011. Both dates passed without incident, leaving thousands of followers disillusioned and financially devastated after selling their possessions in preparation.

Edgar Whisenant 1900s Predictions

Edgar Whisenant wrote a book titled “88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988,” selling 4.5 million copies. When 1988 passed, he adjusted his prediction to 1989, then 1993, and finally 1994. Each failed prediction damaged the credibility of the church and wounded the faith of believers who trusted his calculations.

The Y2K predictions (Computer Bug more than prophecy)

The Y2K predictions had many Christians convinced that the year 2000 would bring about the end times. Ministries sold survival kits, believers stockpiled food and water, and some even went into debt preparing for societal collapse that never came.

William Miller: The Great Disappointment

William Miller in the 1800s calculated that Christ would return on October 22, 1844. When it didn’t happen, the event became known as “The Great Disappointment,” leaving thousands of followers devastated and questioning their faith.

The pattern is always the same: confident predictions, elaborate calculations, failed outcomes, and damaged faith. As Proverbs 27:1 warns: “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”

The Rapture Could Happen Before, During, After, or Years From Now

The truth about the Rapture’s timing is beautifully simple and frustratingly mysterious: it could happen at any moment. This doctrine, known as the “imminency” of the Rapture, means that nothing prophetically needs to occur before Christ returns for His church.

It could happen before September 23rd and 24th. As you read these words, Christ could appear in the clouds and call His bride home. There’s nothing preventing it from occurring this very moment.

It could happen during those dates. Not because any prophet predicted it, but simply because those days are possibilities within God’s sovereign timing. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and if someone happens to guess correctly, it won’t validate their method of prediction.

It could happen after those dates. When September 25th dawns and believers are still on Earth, life will continue, and we’ll still be called to faithfulness and watchfulness.

It could happen years from now. God’s timing is not limited by human impatience or prophetic speculation. Peter reminds us that :

"with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness" (2 Peter 3:8-9).

The Principle of Constant Readiness

Jesus taught us a crucial principle through multiple parables: we must always be ready. In Matthew 24:43-44, He said:

"But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."

Consider how you protect your earthly possessions. You don’t guard your house only on specific dates when you think thieves might come. You lock your doors every night. You install security systems that work 24/7. You remain vigilant because thieves don’t announce their arrival.

Similarly, Jesus calls us to spiritual vigilance every single day. In Luke 12:35-37, He teaches:

"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes."

What True Readiness Looks Like

Being ready for Christ’s return is not about calculating dates or preparing for specific calendar events. True readiness involves:

Spiritual Preparation: 1 John 3:3 tells us that “all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.” Are you living in holiness, confessing sin, and walking in the light?

Faithful Service: Jesus told His disciples to “occupy until I come” (Luke 19:13, KJV). Are you faithfully serving in your calling, using your gifts for God’s glory, and advancing His kingdom?

Evangelistic Urgency: 2 Corinthians 6:2 declares that “now is the day of salvation.” Are you sharing the Gospel with urgency, knowing that time may be short?

Loving Relationships: Jesus said they would know us by our love (John 13:35). Are your relationships characterized by forgiveness, kindness, and sacrificial love?

Biblical Grounding: Ephesians 4:14 warns against being “tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching.” Are you grounded in God’s Word rather than human speculation?

A Call to Biblical Faithfulness

As we approach September 23rd and 24th, 2025, let us respond with biblical wisdom rather than human excitement or fear. Let us reject date-setting while embracing the blessed hope of Christ’s return. Let us live with the constant awareness that He could come today while continuing to plan and work as faithful stewards.

The Apostle Paul beautifully captures this balance in Titus 2:11-13:

"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope - the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Will the Rapture happen on September 23rd and 24th? The honest, biblical answer is: we don’t know, and that’s exactly as God intended. Our calling isn’t to know the timing but to be ready always, watching expectantly, serving faithfully, and living holy lives that honor our coming King.

When Christ does appear – whether it’s tomorrow, next month, or decades from now – may He find us faithful, not because we guessed the right date, but because we lived every day as if it could be the day of His glorious return. Andries from Newcastle South Africa
    Shalom

    1. Hi Andries,

      Thank you for the comment,

I also wonder the same thing and i am even concerned for their safety. Please check out false predictions dangers post. Its sad that some people will lose their salvation because of these false predictions. It makes me so angry how these people are representing God but there is nothing i can do.

I have seen, preachers men I respect, good God fearing men, doing this saying it’s this it all lines up etc. I myself have felt the concern am I ready? Am I truly right with God?. Then I sit back and realize that I am absolutely I am a flawed sinner, that deserves to go to hell, but by God’s grace am I saved from that fate, we will all have a “day” our own personal rapture, rather that is a worldwide event and meeting our Lord, or a car wreck from nowhere. People plot and plan and are trying to tie something they have no business trying to tie down. Live ready your personal rapture could be now, if the Lord come during the FOT 9/23-9/24, blesses are we to be with him, if he doesn’t how many people will have a “great” falling away. Sadly we can’t trust society anymore because old men will have dreams and young people will have visions, sadly in today’s social media world we have no idea who is really dreaming or seeing prophecy and how many want clicks, from children who had visions all while their parents are telling them what to say off camera, to people all saying the same thing they dreamed in exact detail to each other, it could be all very true or very false. I choose to say this sorry for long winded response why concern yourself about something you cannot control, why worry about tomorrow as Jesus said. Lastly there is a lot of stuff occurring 9/23-9/24 FOT, UN meeting about 2 state solution, Jesus fulfilled all the Spring festivals, and the Jewish festivals are very important, the FOT defines as “no man knows the day or hour” since it’s over two days, there is a lot of stuff that says yes, it’s all in how you believe. My take if this has you questioning your faith or wanting to know more about God, then don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t happen it will happen one day like I said for all of us. If it does happen then that’s the best news ever for everyone that believes to in the presence of pure love all the time we all have doubts and fear of things unknown, but ask yourself is Jesus unknown?!

    1. Hi,

Thanks for your comment, don’t worry about the length. Its true, tomorrow is not promised, you can die before 23-24 September or rapture can happen early. That shouldn’t be the focus though, we should love God and focus on living for him, in perfect peace not fear and anxiety.

  3. I feel as if something has changed within me…like an inner peace that I’ve not felt before. Although everything around me is going at warp speed, it’s also in slow motion. It’s hard to explain…but my hope for Jesus’ return has intensified with expectation. Everyday things have become mundane as my earthly future has no meaning. I’m staying prepared for HIS coming, yearn to see HIS glorious face and hear HIM say…”Well done good and faithful servant.” HE is my only hope…for ALL THAT IS AND ALL THAT MATTERS IS JESUS..

    1. Hi Vicki,

I am glad you have peace, the devil wants us to be anxious and focus on the wrong things. We must patiently wait for His return. Focus on Him as your continue your daily activities. Pray for endurance and grace to continue this journey as you wait for His return.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”

      1. Dearest John,
Well, we’re still here and the truth is…God knows I’d be lying if I didn’t admit my disappointment. It’s ALMOST as if my birthday has come and gone, my present hasn’t arrived in the mail yet and my party has been delayed. I know deep within me that it’s on the way but must patiently wait for the gift and long to hear *SURPRISE^. When THAT finally happens the thrill of it won’t be any less and will even increase the joyful sweetness of the moment. So here we are, aching to get the party started with the trumpet’s call and our Lord’s shout. HE needn’t apologize for being late because HE isn’t…I’m just impatient for the celebration to begin.
Now we’ve been told, according to the Julian calendar which was in play and followed during the time of Christ…that places our Gregorian calendar off by approximately 13 days. So, some scholars are saying that the rapture will actually most likely be on the 6th-7th of October. I have to wonder if yet again I’m being foolishly deceived into looking forward to my rescue in just a few short days. HE alone sees the reality of my daily suffering and knows my heart is aching to leave this world behind. Therefore, with oil in my lamp I can only hope, wait and continue to LOOK UP!!!

        1. Hi Vicki,

          Thank you for your response.

I also admit that a part of me was disappointed, i was looking forward to it too – at least i gave it a benefit of a doubt. The scripture is clear on this and no one knows. We should continue to keep watch and trust in him.

If i am being a honest, for a long time and sometimes i still do, i felt hopeless and felt like i was drowning but a sermon by Apostle Joshua Selman changed my view. I advise you to listen to it. I have also written a blog post on it: What seekest thou. I advise you to study and meditate on John 14:27. God wants you to have peace as you patiently wait for his return.

  4. Good day John
Amen, beautifully said! 🙏 You’re absolutely right — no one knows the day or the hour, but the call is clear: to stay watchful, keep our lamps filled with oil, and live faithfully in obedience to Christ. Discipling others, spreading the Gospel, and pursuing holiness are exactly what He has entrusted us with while we wait for His return.

May the Lord strengthen you in your walk and bless you richly as you continue to shine His light in the world. 🌟

    1. Hi Selma,

Thank you so much for visiting and spending time reading. I am grateful you found the article helpful. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement, they mean a lot.
